Using our websites

We are always looking for ways to make our websites and online services easier to use. We are also aware of some accessibility issues across iPortal for users of assistive technology (e.g. not being fully keyboard accessible or screen reader compatible).

We design and develop our digital services to be fully accessible in line with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and are working to remediate these known accessibility issues.

Finding your way around

We design our websites so it's easy for you to find the information you need. If you get stuck, you'll find help pages, site maps and contacts pages in most of our sites.

We have chosen an easy-to-see web colour scheme and a clear font type and size.

If you use a screen reader

Not everyone uses a traditional browser, so we've designed our sites to work with screen readers. We use text (in ALT tags) to describe images. We’ve included descriptive links so you know where the link takes you, and we don't use frames that are difficult for screen readers and special browsers to interpret.

Change your browser settings

Your web browser has lots of settings that you can change to alter the way you see, hear or use a website.

The BBC and AbilityNet have a website that provides help for using the internet with all you need to know about on changing settings for Windows, Mac and Linux browsers.
